In Cold Blood by Naomi Clark

Hi there! Thanks for having me today and letting me share a bit about my new release, IN COLD BLOOD. This is a spin-off from my Urban Wolf series, set in the same world but featuring new characters. My goal with every entry in the Urban Wolf series is to open the world up a little bit more. SILVER KISS gives us a good, solid starting point with werewolves. BLOOD HUNT introduces vampires. PHANTON FEARS teases the idea of ghosts, and COLD NIGHT MOON gives us fae creatures (or one, at any rate). With IN COLD BLOOD, my idea was that, well, someone had to be noticing all these weird and wonderful creepy beasties. And someone would be keeping notes…

This will tie directly into the plot of the next Urban Wolf book, which will take us back to Ayla and Shannon. The circle of life, etc.

IN COLD BLOOD is the first of a planned trilogy about Phoebe, Aisling, and the Luporum. I already have book 2 mostly planned out (in my head, anyway), but my aim is write that Ayla and Shannon book first. So if you enjoy IN COLD BLOOD, rest assured that there’ll be more from my socially awkward werewolves in love – and the Urban Wolf series in general! – in the future 🙂 Happy reading!

You can find the complete Urban Wolf series, in reading order, at my blog here.

Phoebe Fairley wanted to be a librarian. Somehow, she’s become a vampire hunter. Women are dying across the country and the police are baffled. Phoebe’s just supposed to be gathering information on the deaths, but as the body count mounts, she can’t help but break the rules and get involved. She knows what the killer is—and catching and containing it is vital. If she can persuade the police to believe her, and keep her secretive bosses happy, she stands a chance of capturing a very real, very deadly vampire. Not bad for a werewolf who can’t shapeshift.

Aisling is happy living as a feral wolf. She’s got no time for human affairs, until a mysterious creature attacks her and leaves her in human hands. Now, if she wants her life back, she’ll have to join Phoebe’s hunt. There are just a couple of snags. One, she hates humans. And two, she’s falling hard for Phoebe. With a monster to catch and her own past to protect, will Aisling trust her head or her heart?

Excerpt

The
scene inside the barn was surreal. Two big floodlights overhead lit
the barn in glaring white. Half the huge space was taken up with
sheep, penned off from the drama but still hysterically bleating and
milling together. A grizzled man in a tattered dressing gown and
Wellington boots – surely the farmer – leaned into the pen,
talking non-stop to the frightened animals. Bales of hay were piled
high around the rest of the barn, looking to Phoebe like they might
come toppling down any second. They formed a rough arena for the main
drama. Two more men held down a naked woman. She thrashed in their
grip, tossing her matted red hair and snarling with a viciousness
that made Phoebe’s wolf cower. This was their victim, this mad,
wild thing?
Spalding
hurried over to the farmer and Gibbs ran to the paramedics. They had
to be wolves, from the strength they were displaying, but the woman
was making them work to keep her still. Phoebe hesitated before
following Gibbs – at a distance. Observe, Spalding had said. That
was fine. Observing was all she was meant to do. The question was,
what exactly was she seeing? The victim of a vampire attack or a
feral wolf gone mad? She couldn’t help but lean towards the latter.
Perhaps the woman thought the sheep would be easy pickings, but
something had gone wrong. Maybe she’d been startled by the farmer
or a guard dog. Phoebe had noticed a kennel outside the barn,
although there was no sign of a dog now.
As
she got closer, she saw the woman’s hands and feet were caked in
mud, and there were thin red scratches all over her pale skin. Dried
blood on her chest, too, although her endless thrashing made it hard
to see where the original wound was. She stopped a few feet away,
watching as Gibbs crouched down before the woman and – daringly,
Phoebe thought – gripped her chin firmly. She was surprised he
didn’t get his fingers bitten off.
The
woman growled but couldn’t pull free of Gibbs’ hold. He growled
right back, with a force and venom that made Phoebe quake. Did they
teach that in training?
For
a minute, the pair seemed locked in battle, the woman struggling
against all three men in vain while she snarled at Gibbs. He didn’t
flinch or loosen his grip, and kept his own domineering growl
rumbling on, rising in pitch. The sheep grew more frantic and both
the farmer and Spalding yelled at them with a mixture of anger and
desperation. Phoebe felt battered, all the noise and tumultuous
emotion like an assault. She wanted to run. She forced herself to
stay, watching as Gibbs tried to inflict his will on the woman.
As
much as pop culture got muddled with myth, some things were always
true, just as much for wolves as humans. Some people were simply more
dominant than others. Gibbs’ laid-back, clownish persona was all
gone now as he pinned the woman down with both his body and his eyes.
Phoebe would have caved already, if she’d even had it in her to
resist. The woman, whatever her mental state might be, was not so
easily dominated. But after what felt like an age, she slumped,
stopped fighting, and went still.

About the Author

Naomi likes writing, perfume, fancy tea, and unfathomable monsters from the dark spaces between the stars, not necessarily in that order. She has been writing stories ever since she learned how to write, but is still trying to master the art of biography writing. When she’s not dealing with werewolves, demons, or sea monsters, she’s hanging out with her cat and probably watching a documentary about Bigfoot. If the cat isn’t available, she’s with her fiancé watching cookery shows and silently plotting her next book.

Ocean’s
Three
(Made In Heaven #2)
Thank you so
much for hosting Ocean’s Three on your blog. This was such a different writing
experience as I wrote a big portion of this book while on a cruise, which is
where most of my story takes place. I’m so excited to continue to explore this
soul mate world that I have created and am already plotting my next book in the
series.
Get ready to set sail…
BLURB:
Cameron Pompeo has always seen things, felt things, he could
not explain, the biggest of which is a young girl named Jocelyn, who appears
nightly in his dreams. When his cousin Reed Pompeo suddenly shows up in his
dream, Cameron realizes that not only does Jocelyn exist, but she will be
important to them both.

After a tragic accident kills her mother, Jocelyn Parker struggles
with her guilt. She pushes away the two most important people in her life as a
form of self-punishment and tries to convince herself that she made them up,
despite the fact that a sense in the very depths of her soul tells her that
they’re real.
A cruise to the Mediterranean finally
brings the three of them together. There, they make real memories and promises
to each other, but what happens when the cruise is over? Will their love be
strong enough to survive the outside forces that threaten to destroy their
happiness?

Story Excerpt:
“Are you a virgin?”
“Excuse me?” Jocelyn turned around abruptly. Her eyes widened at
Cameron’s grinning face, though her dark shades prevented him from seeing. She
still felt the tickle of his breath by her ear where he had just whispered his
comment, and her body shivered in response. She glanced down at her vintage
Madonna T-shirt from the “Like a Virgin” tour and broke out into hysterical
laughter. She fondly remembered their long-running joke about taking T-shirts
literally. What a way to break the ice, she thought as Cameron’s eyes crinkled
with amusement. Reed stood beside him trying to look pissed at her, but failing
miserably. Finally, he gave her that lazy grin she loved so much.
After a few moments, Jocelyn’s laughter subsided. She needed the levity
after the turmoil that had been wreaking havoc on her insides. Now she felt
that not too unpleasant ache in her ribs, the kind you get after a good hearty
laugh. She also felt heat pooling in her lower belly as both Reed and Cam’s
gazes and perusal of her body looked almost carnal. She wasn’t wearing anything
terribly sexy over her bathing suit. At least she didn’t think so. The T-shirt
she wore actually belonged to her mom from her concertgoing days, and was
therefore precious to Jocelyn. It hung a little off her shoulder, and in paying
homage to the eighties, she tied one side of the shirt in a knot that rested on
her hip bone. Completing the ensemble, a pair of khaki shorts, flip-flops, a
backpack slung over her shoulder, and of course, the sunglasses to cover up her
bloodshot eyes. Thankfully, no one from her wedding party noticed her eyes
since she decided to skip having breakfast with them and opted for room service
again.
“Why did you run, Joss?”
“You really are real,” she whispered, then found herself at a loss for
words. She had already accepted the fact that Cameron and Reed were not
figments of her imagination, but she needed to voice it aloud, and seeing them
again only helped to reaffirm their existence and made her feel even worse for
running out on them last night, not taking their feelings into consideration. They
must have been just as shocked seeing her as she was them, even though they had
never doubted her existence. “I-I—”
“We weren’t with those girls,” Reed said, looking serious again. “We
were just dancing with them. Are they the reason you ran?”
Jocelyn couldn’t help the slight smile curving her lips at Reed’s
revelation. Come to think of it, she didn’t see the blond bimbos from last
night anywhere. “No. Yes. I don’t know. I guess I just freaked out at seeing
you both. I don’t even understand how this is possible.”
“I know,” Cameron said. “We have a lot to talk about.” Then he and Reed
both smiled reassuringly, and she saw that they had already forgiven her.
“I’m sorry,” she said, with a shaky smile. “I promise not to run again.
Now that I see you, now that I know you actually exist… Well, no matter what
happens…” She was struggling with finding the right words again, struggling to
tell them that she would accept them any way she could have them, and that this
time, if they still wanted her in their lives, she would not disappear on them
again.
“Can we go somewhere and talk?” Cameron asked, putting her out of her
misery. He actually looked a little nervous.
She was glad it wasn’t just her nerves because if the butterflies in
her stomach had gone crazy just at the sight of Cameron and Reed, they were
behaving absolutely berserk now at their nearness. The smells of two different
kinds of aftershave along with two uniquely musky scents were downright
delicious. They made her mouth water. She wanted to jump up and down and tell
them yes, yes, yes, I’ll go anywhere with
you
, or take me now would also
suffice, but duty called. “I can’t,” she finally managed to say instead.
At the sight of Cameron and Reed’s crestfallen expressions, she quickly
explained about the job that brought her on the cruise. They were currently
docked in Split, Croatia,
standing by the gangway, where Jocelyn would be going on an excursion to the Diocletian
Palace with the bride and groom. The
rehearsal dinner later that evening, followed by the actual wedding
tomorrow—pretty much an all-day event—would leave very little time for them to
talk these next two days. She felt their anxiety as well as her own at not
being able to get reacquainted after such a long separation.
“What a coincidence,” Cameron said. “We’re going on the same excursion.
Excuse me a moment.” With that, he winked at her, turned on his heel, and
strode off, leaving her with a very confused-looking Reed. Reed schooled his
features quickly, but Jocelyn had a sneaking suspicion that Cameron was headed
toward the Shore Excursion desk.
Adult Excerpt:
“I don’t really have the right to tell you who you can or can’t be
with.” She cast her eyes downward. Cameron thought she was trying not to cry.
“You have every right, Jocelyn,” Reed interjected.
“How can you say that?”
The elevator door opened just then, letting on two new passengers. The
three of them remained silent the rest of the way down to Jocelyn’s floor. They
continued their silence as Cameron and Reed followed Joss as she walked to her
cabin. When they reached her door, Cameron asked for her key card and slid it
into the slot.
“I didn’t know the two of you were real,” she said when they entered
her room. She sat down on the edge of her bed. “I left you three years ago. I
certainly don’t expect—”
“Stop it, Joss,” Cameron demanded.
There’s no one else, dollface.”
“What about Taryn?” she asked, looking up at Reed.
Reed quickly explained the circumstances that brought him and Cameron
on the cruise. “It’s always been you, Jocelyn.”
“For both of us,” Cameron added.
Jocelyn looked down at her feet.
“I’m not sure she understands yet,” Reed said playfully.
“Hmmm.” Cameron walked over to Joss and sat beside her. She squeaked
when he pulled her over his knee. “Maybe we need to show her.”
“What are you doing?” she asked, struggling weakly.
Cameron chuckled. She definitely could have tried harder to free
herself from her current position, he thought. “Something I’ve wanted to do for
a very long time.” He hiked up her dress, revealing pink cotton boy shorts, and
rubbed her ass in a slow sensuous circle.
Reed sat next to him on the bed to enjoy the view, no doubt. Cameron
slowly pulled her panties down, leaving them wrapped around the lower part of
her thighs, exposing her to their gaze. Reed reached out to stroke the globes
of her beautiful round and shapely ass. He then slid his finger slowly up and
down her slit.
“I think she’s turned on,” he said, his voice gravelly. “So pretty.”
Cameron tilted his head to the side to get a better view. She’s not the only one turned on.
Jocelyn’s responsive moan was low and breathy, and her body protested
when Reed removed his finger. He gave Cameron a slight nod, after which a sharp
slap resonated in the room, immediately followed by a surprised squeak. Cameron
rubbed the stinging area, generating another moan from Joss.
“You’re ours, Joss”—slap—“and
we are all yours. No one else’s, baby.” After another slap, another moan, and
another gentle rub, he asked, “Do you understand?” He slapped her ass again
when she didn’t respond. “I”—smack—“Asked”—smack—“You”—smack—“A”—smack—“Question”—smack.
“Yes! Yes!” she panted. “Yours.”
“Good girl.”
This time Cameron nodded at Reed, who immediately slipped first one,
then two fingers inside Jocelyn’s wet channel. She bowed her head and fisted
the sheets in front of her as Reed pumped his fingers in and out of her, while
Cameron rubbed her ass in slow, sensual circles. She looked so fucking sexy,
Cameron thought, splayed out like she was over his knees, panting, moaning,
whimpering. His cock was an iron rod, painfully straining against the zipper of
his jeans and protesting that he would not be able to sink into her lush body
tonight. Tonight, it would have to be about her pleasure and he and Reed
enjoying the act of giving it to her. The image of her glorious ass in the air,
marked with his handprints, legs spread apart, beautiful, wet, pink pussy on
display, would both torment and excite him until he could finally claim her.
Jocelyn emitted a low throaty sound followed by a loud cry. Her body
arched, her knuckles whitened as she fisted the sheets tighter, and then her
hips jerked repeatedly at what must have been a very powerful orgasm.
Cameron gently maneuvered her into a sitting position on his lap and
wiped away her hair from her damp forehead. She was still shaking in his arms. Reed,
who remained in the same spot on the bed next to Cameron, rubbed Jocelyn’s back
in circles until her body calmed and her heavy breaths became steady.
“I wish I would have seen your face when you came, Joss,” Cameron said,
his own breathing labored. He was sure she could feel his hardness underneath
her. “You look so beautiful all flushed and sated like you are.”
She smiled shyly up at him. “I had some help.” She reached back to give
Reed a soft caress. “From two very talented men.”
“Talented, huh?” Cameron chuckled. “This was just a tease, baby. I’ll
show you talented.”

Rory and the Alien Groom by Jessica Coulter Smith

aliengroomcoverfinal

AMAZON / B&N / iTUNES / KOBO / CHANGELING PRESS

Humiliation burns through Zwyk as he comes to the realization his bride has left him standing alone at the altar. When something seems too good to be true, it usually is. He should have known someone as vivacious as his bride-to-be would never settle for a paper pushing, XBox playing geek like him. While his heart isn’t exactly broken, his pride is wounded, and his confidence has taken a hit.

Rory hates that she had to tell Zwyk her sister has run away instead of marrying him. Well, she hates the pain her sister caused. She can’t exactly say she’s sorry the wedding is off. Maybe now she can make Zwyk see what’s been right under his nose this entire time — her.

ABOUT THE STORY

We’ve all read jilted groom or jilted bride stories before. Usually the maid of honor, a bridesmaid, best friend, or best friend’s sister ends up making it all better and they ride off into the sunset. So what makes this story different from any of those? Besides the purple aliens…

Zwyk has always wanted one thing. To have his own family. A mate, children. Maybe a family pet. And he thinks he’s well on his way to achieving his dreams when he proposes to Brittany, only to be left stranded at the altar without so much as a goodbye. He decides love is too painful and gives up on his dream, determined to keep his heart from ever breaking. Enter Rory…

She’s spunky, quirky, and just what Zwyk needs. He’s always felt like he had to hide who he is when he’s with a woman. None of them have ever been impressed with his paper-pushing job, nor his love of Xbox. But Rory isn’t like the others. She’s a hardcore gamer with a degree in finance, every bit as geeky as he is, and she may be just the cure that Zwyk needs. And Rory is determined to get what she wants…

EXCERPT

His poor game system was hidden away in the hall closet, banished there by Brittany along with two boxes of his games. He hauled everything out and started hooking it back up, petting the console and whispering words of contrition to it for his poor treatment the past few months. When it booted right up, he took that to mean he was forgiven for his transgression. Looking in the boxes of games was akin to opening presents on Christmas — a human tradition he’d embraced wholeheartedly — and he had trouble deciding what to play first.

There wasn’t a better way to dive back into things than to play Gears of War 4. His Xbox Live membership had lapsed and his account had been deleted, so he’d have to enjoy one-player mode for now. Hell, he didn’t even know if his gaming buddies were still around, assuming he could find them online after he made a new account. He’d just up and vanished on them three months ago. It was an asshole move, but Brittany had grabbed him by the balls. Well, figuratively, because she’d never gotten close enough to actually touch his balls. They’d kissed, but she’d always shied away when he tried to take things further, saying she wanted to wait for their wedding night. Now he had to wonder how much of that was bullshit. Had she detested him so much that she couldn’t stand to be touched by him?

The game had just finished loading when there was a knock at his front door. Zwyk set his controller aside and went to answer, almost dreading who might be on the other side. If word had already spread about his failed wedding, any number of his friends could be on the other side with an “I told you so” ready on their lips, or worse, a pitying look in their eyes. He almost didn’t answer, but something made him pull open the door.

His eyebrows rose when he saw who stood on the other side.

“Rory?”

She grinned and held up two pizza boxes while she pushed her glasses further up her nose. “I thought you might need sustenance after your trying day. It’s your favorite. Sausage and onion.”

His stomach rumbled and he stepped back to let her in. It wasn’t the first time she’d been to his house, but it was the first time they’d been alone. Was she feeling sorry for him? He’d have thought she’d be with her parents, trying to figure out where Brittany went. But then Rory had always seemed to follow her own rhythm. What was that Earth saying? Marching to the beat of her own drum?

He shut the door and followed her into the living room, where she set the boxes on the coffee table. He grinned a little, thinking about Brittany’s head exploding if she saw such a travesty. It gave him the sudden urge to leave rings and scuff marks on the pristine surface. Juvenile perhaps, but refreshing. It was like he’d been freed from a prison sentence, and if that wasn’t a sobering thought, he didn’t know what was.

“Whatever you just thought, stop thinking it,” Rory said as she opened the first box. “I figure we can just eat out of the box, but we probably should grab some drinks before I kick your ass on the Xbox.”

He blinked at her. Did she just say…

“Drinks?” she prompted then shook her head. “Never mind, I’ll get them.”

He watched, bemused, as she helped herself to his kitchen. She returned a moment later with a disgusted look on her face and two soda cans in her hands.

“Please tell me this is another Brittany travesty and you don’t actually drink diet.”

He coughed to cover his laugh, but he couldn’t deny that she amused him. “I’ll go to the store later and pick up some regular soda.”

“You should get grape too. It’s my favorite.”

He scratched his neck and wondered if that meant she planned to hang out for a while. Zwyk wasn’t quite sure what to make of Rory, but he was just going to go with it for the time being. He couldn’t really think of anything else to do. Retaking his seat on the couch, he grabbed a slice of pizza and took a huge bite before downing half the can she’d placed in front of him. The intro to the game blared from the TV speakers and Rory wiggled her fingers at him, snatching the controller from his hand.

“You eat. I’m going to play.” She grinned at him before turning her focus to the game on the screen.

Zwyk devoured almost an entire pizza by himself as he alternated between watching the comical expressions on Rory’s face and her annihilation of everything in her path on the screen. Her skill was rather impressive and her maniacal laugh as she took out the opposing force was amusing. Who knew such a pint-sized female could be so bloodthirsty?

“All right, killer. It’s my turn,” he said holding out his hand for the controller. “You’re pretty good, but it’s time to show you how the pros do it.”

Award-winning author Jessica Coulter Smith has been in love with the written word since she was a child. Her first stories may have been written in crayon, but now she’s a multi-published author of over seventy-five novellas and novels. Romance is an integral part of her world and spills over from her professional life into her personal one. When she went out on that first date with her husband, she never expected to hear the words “marry me” pop out of his mouth — and judging by the shocked look on his face, he hadn’t meant to say them either. But, being the hopeless romantic that she is, Jessica said yes and they’ve been married since 2000.

The Furnace Man by Kera Faire

Hi all, Raven chatting.

It’s so lovely to be here, and talking about The Furnace Man, the latest book by Kera Faire, my dark side.

I’m very lucky having two author sides of me, as I can indulge what I like doing best—creating stories with a happy ever after—in so many different ways. I just swap hats so to speak. It might not work for everyone, but it does for me.

Furnace-Man-evernightpubishing-2017-finalimage

This series, Dark Isle, is darker than my Raven stories. Mainly set around an island on Loch Lomond, in Scotland, The Furnace Man takes a bit of a new track, by starting in a glass works in Yorkshire.  I just happened to go to the grand opening of a new furnace, and got chatting. The Furnace Man is the result.

Of course we end up on Dark Isle…also known aptly as Death Isle, an island in Loch Lomond, which is handy as it is not that far from where I live. Good excuse to procrastinate and well, enjoy the scenery. A flask of coffee, a g-f biscuit or three and my lap top. Perfect. Well I hope so.

Blurb…

Don’t piss off the furnace man.

It might be a standing joke around the glass factory— he’ll mix you with the sand and burn you, leaving nothing left to discover—but Lindsey Earnshaw is about to find out the truth behind it.

Placed there to spy on the place on behalf of the government, a warning message brings forth not only a dead body, but also the one man she’s never forgotten.

Michael Hoult cannot believe his eyes, when his ex-wife turns out to be the receptionist on duty. Having to drug her in order to not blow his cover will not earn him her renewed submission, neither will whisking her away to the Death Isle.

Duty first, though. It cost him his marriage all those years ago, but with Lindsey now working for the same side, can they not only catch a killer, but also rediscover each other?

A wee tease…

“Nice now, safe word or suck me off.” He waited as she gulped and hesitated. She swayed towards him and straightened. Many people didn’t involve sex in their play; he and Lindsey always had and that was how he wanted it to be now. However, he remembered oral was something she’d never been keen on and eventually said it was a soft limit. It had never changed and nor had she gone down on him more than a few times, and never ever swallowed his cum. Not something he’d ever encountered before or indeed after Lindsey. She’d tried and after gagging and throwing up, had said swallowing was a big fat red no-no. He’d accepted it, but had missed that special closeness only being jerked off by your partner could bring. But Lindsey was his lady, his sub, he had loved her—still did—and her pleasure came first.

Perhaps it was unfair to throw her into this scenario so quickly, but he knew his pet. She could go round the houses for ever. He intended to show her he would not be fazed or upset by her limits whatever.

“Pet, you need to tell me where you are in this. Safe word.” He rapped his demands out. “Now.”

“Green to lick,” she said so softly he had to strain to hear. “I hope.” She took his cock in between her hands and delicately licked the head.

His pre-cum leaked fast and furious and she drew back and looked at it.

Typical. The one time I could do with it taking its time it comes like the clappers.

“It’s fine,” she said with awe in her voice. “Green.” She took more of his length in her mouth and began to nibble and suck.

He saw stars as the tug and pull became stronger. God almighty did she know the affect she was having on him? He was going to come if she didn’t slow down or pull back.

“Pet, enough, I’m about to shoot.” Michael tugged her hair, hard enough to make her release him. Or so he hoped.

“Lindsey. Pet, stop now.” Did he sound Dom-like enough? It was bloody hard when half of him would like no more than to fuck her mouth until he filled it with cum, and watched the excess run down her cheeks. But he didn’t truly want to. Not yet. Baby steps.

His command evidently got to her because she moved her mouth from his with a gentle plop. The confusion and hurt in her eyes hit him. “Pet, baby steps,” he said softly as he helped her to her feet. “I would happily fill your mouth and fuck it. But, not today. We have so much more to explore and hopefully have a lifetime to do everything in.” Would she understand without him getting too graphic? “I want to fuck your sweet pussy. Fill you that way. Relearn how you sigh and how well our bodies mesh. Make you scream as you come. Shudder and shake for me. Show you how much I love you, have never stopped loving you, and want this to be our happy ever after.”

Lindsey sighed and her eyes became misty. “Sir, My Michael, oh yes. I feel the same. You are mine.  My lover, my friend and my Sir. I want it all as well.”

“First then.” Michael paused, tugged off her cardigan and threw it onto the floor. That’s better. Now…” He unzipped her jeans so he could run one finger around her pantie leg. “Firstly, I want you naked so I can spank your sweet ass until it’s the rosy color of that cushion over there.” He slid her panties and jeans down her legs and helped her step out of them. “I want to see my hand print and know that outline shows you are mine. Arms up.” Her t-shirt followed the cardigan. “Stand still, just like that with your arms up. Don’t lower them.”

Michael waited as she did as he demanded, grabbed her ass hard to keep her in place and lowered his lips to the lacy cups of her bra.

And sucked hard.

Lindsey bucked. “Oh grief oh my, oh hell…Oh god, Green bloody green.”

He took that as a good sign, let go of her nipples and ignored her moan as he blew on each hard nub in turn. Deftly he unclipped her bra and flung it in the direction of the rest of her clothes. Now he wished he’d taken her to the playroom. He knew no one was playing in it and he had a cupboard full of delicious things he could use on her. All still new and in their packets. Here, he’d have to be innovative and make do.

At least he had his hands. Michael unclenched his fingers and watched her pupils dilate as he smacked her ass a couple of times. “What color are clothes pegs?” he asked casually. “Specifically on your breasts, nipples and ass.”

“Clo… Pegs?” Her voice rose to a high-pitched squeak. “Pegs on my…oh my…” She blinked. “Can you?”

Michael smiled. “Oh yes. But maybe not yet?”

She nodded. “Perhaps not. I need to rediscover pain, I reckon. Let’s say yellow.”

“Then maybe we should start.” He pondered for a moment. “Here, I think.” He sat on the nearest chair and pulled her to lie over his lap, head to one side, legs to the other. “Color, pet?”

He could visualize her rolling her eyes at him for being so insistent. However she answered him readily, and politely. “Green, Sir.”

“Then, pet, count. Ten on each side and then I’m going to fuck your wet and willing pussy.”

“Yes, Sir,” she said fervently.

Michael laughed as he raised his hand. He hit her right buttock firmly and then rubbed away the sting as she gasped.

“O…One.”

“Good girl.” He repeated the actions on the other globe. By six on each side Lindsey was writhing and he opened his legs enough to reach between them and pinch her clit hard. “No coming or I’ll stop now.”

“Eh?” She sounded dazed. “F…flip, no…no. Don’t stop.”

“Then behave.”

Fiery 10-16 by Lea Bronsen

Hi, and thank you for hosting my new dark romantic suspense!

Fiery 10-16 is a scorching firefighter story of desire, abuse, and bravery.

fiery-1016_ebook-cover

Runo Wiggins is a scarred man, the wounds etched into his psyche deeper than those on his skin. But he loves his job: fighting fires helps reenact his survival of a house fire as a teen, one that killed his mother and brutal stepfather.

Dawn Caravello is married to a psychotic drunk. She can take his beatings as long as he doesn’t touch their children, and she’ll do anything to put food on the table, even if it means stealing from the town hero.

When Runo meets the fiery Dawn, sparks fly. But he suspects she is victim of the same abuse as his mother was. As day turns to night, the past and the present blend in an exhausting, nerve-wrecking chase to prevent another death.

One that needs to be kept from being discovered, at all costs. Out on the job, they end up saving a woman who turns out to be more than they could have believed.

Kidnapped to become a pawn in a dangerous, violent game, Camilla has only one hope—for her two men to come to her rescue, before it’s too late. She knows that they would walk through the fires of hell for her. But will they make it in time?

Be Warned: menage sex (MFM), anal sex, double penetration, spanking

Excerpt

It felt good to be back on American soil. While Mikhail thought of himself as more Russian than American, America had been his home for all his life and always would be.

Mikhail stepped out of the steamy bathroom and finished toweling off as he padded into the locker room. Nodding to his teammates who were scattered around in various states of undress, he grabbed up a pair of jeans and pulled them on.

Three weeks since their mission to extract the CIA operative from Greece without anyone, official or not, the wiser. While it hadn’t been smooth, they’d gotten in and out without alerting anyone they’d ever been there. Bad guys notwithstanding, of course.

He buttoned up his fly and crammed his feet into a pair of boots. Mikhail pulled on his shirt before dropping to sit on the bench to do up his boots.

They’d been in endless meetings and sessions to debrief since they’d gotten out of Greece with the operative. All they knew about her was her code name for the op, Sugar. Not exactly fitting given the venom she’d directed their way the entire flight out of the country and then back to the States. But then again, she hadn’t looked all that happy before they’d met her.

What her mission had been in the country, Mikhail couldn’t say. But since they were currently on friendly terms with Greece, who the fuck knew. Especially when it came to the spooks. Those guys just loved to root around in the darkest of corners looking for enemies and, if they couldn’t find any, making new ones.

He stomped his feet a little to settle the boots in place. Just as he grabbed his leather jacket, the door into the locker room crashed open and four MPs came in.

“Sorry, sirs. The admiral has requested your presence immediately.”

Mikhail knew it wasn’t an actual “request.” No one, an admiral especially, needed four heavily armed MPs to pass on a “request.” No, it was an order, and he bet if it weren’t obeyed the MPs had very specific and detailed instructions about what to do.

He shrugged on his jacket and leaned against his locker as his cohorts finished dressing. None of them were in any apparent rush. While the MPs had said immediately, and he knew the admiral had meant yesterday, they weren’t going to just give in. That wasn’t how they were made. His fellow team members gravitated into their duos, as usual. He wasn’t surprised when Gareth shot him a small, crooked grin. The men weren’t couples, but they all worked together very well and—at least where he and Gareth were concerned—shared women more often than not.

Rubbing a hand over his mouth, he hid his smirk as James “Fury” Ashton asked Owen “Viper” Lueger which shirt went with his eyes better. Always pushing the envelope, that one. When Mikhail caught the look on the MPs faces and the way they were fiddling with their sidearms, he cleared his throat. He gave his team a couple of signals out of sight of the MPs.

It got everyone moving faster. If a bunch of highly trained military cops were that twitchy, something big was going down. No need to provoke them more than absolutely necessary.

As they left the locker room as a unit, Mikhail noticed they all exchanged the same look. He knew no one had a clue what was going on and that they didn’t like it—especially since they’d all just been told they had three weeks’ leave. Which, in their minds, meant they got to leave, no questions asked.

Not good.

****

Twenty minutes later, Mikhail could not believe how fucking right he’d been. “Excuse me, sir. I mean zero disrespect, sir, but are you off your fucking rocker?” he asked.

His teammates all nodded. Yeah, every single one of them had been thinking it. Mikhail was just craziest of the bunch to say it out loud. It was part of his rep, and he did love living up to his rep.

“I wish,” Admiral Weller said. He rubbed a hand over his military-regulation cut and looked at them all.

Mikhail couldn’t believe how old Admiral Weller looked right then. Sharing a worried look with Nolan, he shook his head. “Sir, this is crazy. I might buy that Nolan might believe in the Greek gods, growing up as he had, but coming from you…” He shook his head again. “I’m sorry, sir, but I’m not buying it.”

“You’d better,” a new voice said. One that was deep, bowels-of-hell deep, and sent a shiver down Mikhail’s spine.

Mikhail spun and looked up—yeah, up—at seven-and-a-half feet of solid muscle covered in leather. Holy shit, where the fuck did this guy come from?

“Olympus by way of Athens,” the large male said. He turned his blacker-than-night eyes to the admiral. “Andrew, sorry I’m late. Had a small family matter to attend to.”

“No apologies needed, come on in and grab a seat. I think I’ll let you tell them the rest of this, as they don’t seem to be taking me seriously.”

The large man chuckled and—no joke—Mikhail could have sworn the room actually pitched and rolled like the deck of a battleship on high seas.

“They are trained to believe what they can see, hear, and touch, Andrew. Of course, they are not going to just take you at your word.” He walked around them, surprisingly light on his feet, and took the seat the admiral had offered.

Mikhail saw the same what-the-fuck expression on Nolan’s face that had to be on his own. The guy, on a first-name basis with the admiral, seemed to be buying into the same delusion, too. This would be interesting to hear. He wondered why no one was questioning the unvoiced questions, but these men knew him well enough to know that he would fill them all in later on everything.

“It’s not a delusion, Mikhail,” the guy said. “The Greek gods are real, all of us.”

“So, we’re to believe you’re one?” Lincoln “Saber” Jamison asked.

“Yes.”

“Right,” Thomas “Brick” Gordon drawled out in his Southern manner. “Which one, just so we keep it all straight and shit?”

The admiral’s expression showed his discomfort. Not a look one expected of a career military man who’d been through more wars than most could lay claim to—and all on the front lines for the most part.

“Ares,” the male said.

“God of War,” Stefan “Orion” Patras said softly. “Son of Zeus and Hera.”

“Bingo,” the big male said. “Got it in one. Which, considering your heritage, I’d be truly miffed if you hadn’t.”

Shooting his Greek team mate a look, Mikhail shook his head. “Okay, I have a question, if we’re all going to play along with this delusion.”

“It’s no delusion and yes, the gods are real.” Ares, or whoever the fuck he was, got up from his chair. He pushed it out of the way and settled with his feet spread so they were right under his shoulders.
A flash of light and they were staring at the guy in full battle regalia. As in, ancient armor with one hell of a big-ass sword in hand, tip to the floor. Oddly enough, the guy seemed even bigger.

He walked straight toward Mikhail.

Standing his ground, Mikhail notched his chin up to keep eye contact with the guy. A lot harder than he’d thought, now that the guy’s eyes were silver pools, much like a whirlpool, trying to suck him in.

“Military men are always the hardest to convince,” the god said. Then he smiled, showing perfectly white teeth, and lifted a hand. “Let’s see if I can’t convince you, shall we?”

Excerpt:

“Was this your idea or Dillon’s? Kelly asked, hoping to relax him.

“It was mine, after Andy told Dillon and he told me. I thought it was something that I …” The muscles along Lex’s jaw looked as though they were made out of iron, and a fine blush crawled up his neck tinting his ears bright pink. “I’ve never touched a woman … in that way.” He forced a laugh. “Obviously. I’ve …” the blush deepened and he avoided her gaze. “I’ve put lube on some of the sculptures – you know — down there, but I … well it isn’t the same.”

“The pears won’t be either,” she said, her heart suddenly aching at the physical isolation this man endured on a daily basis, and it wasn’t just her heart that ached, she felt his lack deep in her core. It had been easier with Andy. She had been almost flippant with him. She was sorry for that now. She spread one of the towels on the Queen Anne chair across from him and settled herself onto it so they were facing each other. “The texture will be different and with the pear there’ll be less give.” She dipped her fingers in the bowl and rubbed the heavy juice between her index finger and her thumb. “If you touch a woman, she’ll be much warmer.” She gave him a conspiratorial smile. “You’ll be amazed at how warm and how soft she’ll be down there when she’s ready to be touched. With Andy, this,” she nodded down to the pears, “was improvisation, this was the best I could do under the circumstances, but a woman, well a woman feels like nothing you’ve ever touched before.”

He was no longer avoiding her gaze. His eyes were locked on her, and he was struggling to keep them on her face, she knew that; she understood the urge for him to drop his eyes to the place of which she spoke, the place with which she was so intimate, the place that couldn’t help but respond to the topic, to the situation, to the strange intimacy they had shared almost since the moment they’d met. “You can look, if you want,” she opened her legs so that he could see the place in between clothed in black denim, completely disguised and yet so very obvious. “And I’ll look at you too,” she nodded down to his own jeans straining to contain him already. “It’s what men and woman are naturally inclined to do when there’s a sexual attraction.”

With her heart hammering in her throat, she took one of the pear halves into the cupped palm of her left hand, then she brought it down between her spread thighs, feeling the juice of it run over her fingers and drip onto the towel as she spread her legs a little farther and held her pam to mimic the position of her vulva. “Touch it like a woman would touch it, and you’ll always get it right.” She drug her index and middle finger up from the bottom of the pear to the center and felt her own body respond in empathy. “The pear has no folds, no secret valleys, no swollen flesh to be teased open, so you’ll have to use your imagination with that.”

Lex gave a little moan soft and deep in his chest as he shifted to make himself more comfortable. “I know the anatomy,” he said. “I’ve watched porn and I’ve studied drawings. I know how it looks like it might feel. I know the response it elicits.” His tongue flicked nervously over his upper lip. “Of course that’s just acting, isn’t it?”

“Porn is about fantasy, about voyeurism, and it doesn’t matter if it’s real if it gets you off. But when it is real,” she spread her index and middle finger up the sides of the pear’s central opening, “if you’re good, if your sensitive, you’ll feel the spasms of your lover’s orgasm, even see them if you’re using your tongue; and you can feel them gripping at your cock when your inside her. If you’re paying attention.

“The clitoris,” she laughed softly, “Well with Andy I used a Ticktack, but he’s a chemistry major. He likes charts and graphs and periodic tables. You’re an artist, you live in your imagination, so you don’t need a Ticktack. Some women like the thumb stroking and circling while the other fingers work inside. Some women like to use their fingers.” She demonstrated on the pear, and Lex groaned. “It’s always best to ask and be sure.”

Reviews:

“I was amazed at how well the author fanned the flames without the characters even touching. From well-detailed interactions to the steamy interludes, this is a story that is blazing hot.” 5 out of 5, The Romance Reviews

“Between helping each other, find themselves, exposing secrets and of course, some seriously steamy steamy situations, I fell hard for these characters. It’s really hard not to. Each one has their own secrets and darkness, but they learn from each other and feed off that. As much as this book is steamy and sexual, it’s just as emotionally driven. Yes, I shed a few tears, but they were happy ones.” 4 out of 5, The Jeep Diva

“This was a very different take on an erotic romance. I really enjoyed this story. The banter between Kelly and Lex was fun and interesting. Even without touching this book sizzles. The pacing was pretty fast. I don’t think I put the book down until I finished the story. Yes I loved the HEA ending. I also enjoyed the detailed character development and how the past events were slowly revealed.” 5 out of 5, Alpha Book Club

Description:

Having it all is a fantasy, right?

Right.

Fantasy.

So when he ran off with Kevin, the owner of an antique shop, right before his sister’s wedding, Carrie’s life went from fantasy to nightmare.

She needs a date. Stat.

Enter Ryan. Sure, he’s a hot male stripper at the O Spa where she works as junior designer, but he’s a few years younger and just, you know — a friend.

A weekend of playing her boyfriend so she can save face is a lot to ask, but for some reason Carrie doesn’t understand, Ryan’s all in. Enthusiastic, even.

Especially when it comes to physical displays of affection.

Public kisses turn to private confessions, and pretty soon, Carrie can’t tell the difference between fantasy and reality.

Because if Ryan’s just pretending he’s in love with her, then why does the chemistry between them — and between the sheets — feel so real?

Carrie can’t settle for almost, though. She’s already done that. She’s not putting her life on hold anymore.

Turns out Ryan won’t, either.

He’s holding out for more.

Excerpt:

# 1

CARRIE

I’m going to be the maid of honor in my friend Jenny’s wedding. You probably saw that coming. I met Jenny at work here at the O Spa, the women’s private club chain where I am the Assistant Director for Design. O Spas are the “fourth space” for women. Home, work, and other public venues are the first three.

We are meant to be the ultimate space. From highly-trained, well-oiled, hot massage therapists who wear g-strings that are outlawed in 111 countries, to a sex toy boutique with weekly workshops, to a new coffee shop with lattes that are better than sex, the O Spa caters to what women want.

A break, a chance, and a friend.

Jenny loved working for O, but she moved on a year ago, a promotion she could only get by changing companies. We were never just work friends. We’re true best friends, and besides that, we could be sisters-in-law someday. I’m dating her brother, Jamey.

Who is standing in front of my desk right now, telling me about the tickets he just scored to Straight No Chaser at the Wang Center in November. We love a cappella.

“Fifth row, Carrie! And it’ll be near the holidays, so maybe they’ll do songs from their Christmas album!” His dark, wavy hair falls over his forehead in a boyish little curl. His eyebrows are perfectly arched. He gets them threaded more often than I do. His narrow chinos are rolled at the cuff, exposing his bare ankles in brown loafers. And is that my cotton scarf knotted around his neck?

I smile at him. Jamey is a great boyfriend because he always wants to do fun and unusual things. Has ever since we began dating two years ago. Our friends rely on Jamey to keep them current. When Steve Martin curated the Lawren Harris show at the MFA, we were the first people in the door. When Juliet opened in Union Square, we were tasting the tasting menu before anyone else had tasted it.

You can see why a lavender flowered cotton dress — with puffed sleeves — is of no use to me.

“We can go back to my place after the concert and I’ll make cocoa. Bet you’d enjoy something sweet and hot,” I say with a flirtatious grin. I give him what I hope is a smoldering look. He’s holding my hand and his eyes widen in mock excitement, then he looks away.

I love Jamey.
